This from the AP:
"WASHINGTON (AP) - Karl Rove, the senior political strategist who orchestrated President Bush's re-election campaign, has been promoted to deputy chief of staff, a job that will involve him in most White House policy and not just politics.
Rove will now coordinate White House policy developed within the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Council, the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council, although intelligence and other national security issues from those councils will be handled by deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin."
Hot Dog. Nobody voted for Karl Rove. It's one thing to elect someone like George W. Bush and then be let down by his policy decisions, like say illegal immigration. It's an entirely different problem to have policy decisions made by someone nobody voted for or most likely knows nothing about. I doubt most of the voting public have read "Bush's Brain".
President Bush had to go out among the people and sell himself and his ideas. Now it's entirely possible that his ideas were all apart of a brilliant marketing strategy for the purposes of getting a Trojan horse in to the White House, but that's our problem as voters. It is our responsibility to examine the candidate and decide if we're going to pick up what they're putting down. We haven't had that opprotunity with Rove.
I don't like cronyism and I especially don't like someone as powerful as Rove in a position where he can dictate policy. We have an elected congress and a president for that.
The only plus side to this is that with HILLARY on the horizon in 2006 and 2008, conservatives will need Rove to combat what will surely be a bloody electoral battle between whomever Rove annoints and the Clintonistas.
For those keeping score, on this blog I try to call things as I see them without leaning too far to one side or the other. When the GOP does something I do not approve of I write all about it ie illegal immigration. However, I am dead set against HILLARY being the president and I'm not thrilled about the prospect of her having a second term in the Senate. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and with that in mind, this blog will always support the opposing view against any Clinton related story.
If I have to accept Rasputin and a Bush family influenced dynasty in the White House then so be it.
