No matter how many times I tell Fifi to keep the dogs quiet and the noise down, inevitably something will happen in the house and during the show there will be a ridiculous amount of distractions. The dryer went off not once but three times during the first half of the show. Fifi also had a visitor who came by to tell her that he would take her to church which of course sent the Pomeranian into a tizzy. It’s not the worse thing ever ie being recorded while I was on the toilet but it’s still pretty annoying. I’m just going to have to get my own private studio out of the house…
I thought the first half of the show had some interesting discussion points. Writing about a topic that I intend to talk about during the week helps prepare me to talk about it without relying solely on written words and statistics. After writing Garbage Heights I felt like I had a comfortable handle on the topic to talk about it passionately.
John did a great job of leading the discussion on the 2008 election. We both have different strengths both personally and with respect to the show and John’s is definitely the ability compartmentalize and analyze the domestic election politics. In this area he really carries the show and usually brings issues up that I would never have thought of.
The rest of the show was good too but in a very different way. Even though John apparently wasn’t paying attention to the BUCGAW Report, the breaking news bit at least lends an air of anything can happen during the show rather than it being too mechanical.
The sports talk evolved more into an interview because we really didn’t have much planned other than MEN LIKE SPORTS and to make fun of me. It was something different though because I never delve into sports, and different is good.
The last bit we thought was pretty funny. John’s a good sport and he handled the bit well. Tom was also surprisingly funny and added some funny one liners. I don’t know how well it translated to the listening audience but as we say, if we’re amused then it is good.
