Initially I was a bit skeptical about this book as it was written by the “Unfit For Command” co-author and it was published by WND Books, which tends to put out fairly jingoistic books. You may recall that “Unfit For Command” came under a lot of scrutiny when it was released and many people contested that it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. With that in mind I reserved judgment for this title until after I had finished it because of the important nature of the topic: an Iran armed with Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. As it turns out, despite the conservative nature of both the author as well as the publishing house, I thought this was a very fair and soberly written piece of work.
Corsi’s intentions with this piece are very clear from the outset. He is warning the reader that the single most threatening danger to the Western world (US, EU and Israel) is that sometime within the next decade, if not sooner, the mullahs of Iran will have built themselves an atomic bomb. Corsi is very clear about their intentions. They are not building it to protect themselves from an aggressive US -- their aim is to build it and then use it against America, Israel and probably the EU.
Apparently, Iran may attack the West directly by strapping their new bomb to either one of their long-range missiles, the Shahab-5 or the Shahab-6. If its 4,000 km reported range is accurate, the Shahab-5 will be able to target most of Europe, Russia, and Asia. The United Kingdom, a staunch ally of the U.S., will be completely vulnerable to an attack. Also, assuming this is all true as both Missilethreat.com and Corsi claim, it places the Shahab-5 among the new class of long-range missiles being produced by Iran in conjunction with North Korea. The Shahab-6, now in development, has a range of 6,000 km and is classified as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Corsi goes into much more detail regarding Iran’s potential missile capacity and that is worth the price of the book alone. (continued)
